Content Analysis: Reach, Readability, Text, Words and Issues

Analyze your post and enhance its readability scores to bring your audiences closer and more engaged.

Overview

This feature provides actionable analysis that can help you hone your content for clarity and engagement to captivate your audiences. These are scores carefully calculated using well-known and internationally recognized readability algorithms.

Aside from the Post Editor screen, you can also access the Content Analysis of a published post through its Post Insights page. To try this, simply hover your mouse on a post while in the Manage Posts screen and click on View Insights & Reports and scroll down to the content analysis section.

Content analysis only applies to English text.

 

Internal Averages, Global Averages & Current Scores 

In Content analysis, internal averages allow you to identify the commonly used readability metrics and scores across your entire organization, including posts created by your colleagues. These are taken from your organization’s most engaging posts. Global averages are scores accumulated from the top engaging posts within the Sparrow platform.

The current scores are content analysis of the current post that you are creating and writing.
Viewing these scores allow you to distinguish how unique or far off your current post compares with your organization's average post or with Sparrow's most engaging posts.
 

Show or hide highlights

Highlights provide specific feedback for sentences that you can improve or shorten. Use the highlighter icon to show or hide the highlights.
 

Reach & Readability

  • Readability. Gauges your post's reading ease or difficulty.
  • Tone. Gives an idea of how formal or how conversational the text looks. 
  • Personalism. Characterizes the strength or weakness of the sense of individuality or personal expression in your writing style.
  • Sentiment. Refers to the overall emotional tone or feeling conveyed by your post.

 

Text & Words

  • Estimated Reading Time. An approximate amount of time it would take an average reader to read through a given piece of text from beginning to end.
  • Word Count. The number of words in your post.

 

Issues

These are Language, Readability, Writing Style and Text Density statistics that help you identify specific words, phrases or sentences within your post which can be simplified, shortened, or enhanced.
